Haruna-Rasheed Mohammed is a dedicated legal practitioner and a member of the Ghana Bar Association in Good Standing. Before joining Merton & Everett LLP, Haruna-Rasheed Mohammed has previously worked with the Environmental Protection Agency, Ghana’s leading Natural Resource and Environmental Governance NGO – Kasa Initiative Ghana – where he interacted with a host of international NGOs advocating for Climate Justice and reforms in the management of Ghana’s Natural Resources laws and policies, and has most recently, worked with one of Ghana’s leading private legal firms, Ampofo, Oppong & Associates where he rose to prominence as a strategic thinker with skills in legal writing, communication, and general litigation.

Affectionately called “HRM” by his colleagues, Haruna-Rasheed Mohammed is a member of the global libertarian network, having risen through the ranks from a local coordinator with Students For Liberty (SFL) to becoming an Alumnus For Liberty. He has developed interests in areas such as human rights, personal liberties, and civic engagements. He is passionate about enhancing his legal skills and knowledge in different areas of the law such as policy development and analysis to better serve society, particularly the marginalized and underrepresented, and to contribute meaningfully to the development of Ghana.

HRM is also keen on exploring emerging areas of study such as Technology law including Blockchain technology, Cybersecurity law, Climate Justice, and New Energy/ Energy Transition law.

HRM regularly participates in the US Embassy Ghana’s Book Club meetings where he occasionally coordinates the activities of the Book Club. He is also a member of Success Book Club, a Book Club formed to lead the battle against illiteracy in the Zongo communities of Accra. 

Haruna is a Prometheus Fellow with Students For Liberty and regularly features in conversations on Liberty and Philosophy, especially Free Market Economics and Ayn Rand’s Objectivism. He is also a Collins Fellow with the Acton Institute, and once taught at the prestigious Turkish Maarif International School in Ghana.

His passion is to advocate for a world where individual liberties are not treated as luxuries for only those who are capable of affording them.
